Cajun Cook-Off

About the Event

Cunningham Bounds, LLC presented the First Downtown Cajun Cook Off on Saturday, March 21 to benefit the Child Advocacy Center. The event was held in Cathedral Square. Twenty of downtown Mobile’s favorite restaurants and bars prepared samplings of their best Cajun cuisine during this inaugural event. In addition to Cunningham Bounds, other sponsors included Bud Light, the Zydeco Beer and Stage Sponsor, where live music was provided by the Glass Joe, Stereo Dogs, and Harrison McGinnis Trio. FOX10 NEWS was the Television Sponsor with Jason Smith, Chief Meteorologist serving as Honorary Chairman, 92ZEW was our Radio Sponsor, and Lagniappe was our Newspaper Sponsor, PNC Bank was a Gumbo Sponsor, and Moore Law Firm, Bayou Sponsor.

Mobile Bay Monthly Magazine donated a full page color ad. Local downtown artist, Devlin Wilson and Shelley Ingersoll of Innova Arts created beautiful handmade plaques for each team and all the winners. Devlin Wilson painted an original seen at the event that was auctioned off that day. David Rasp, owner of Heroes sports Bar & Grill and The Royal scam was our award sponsor. This was an amazing event, we hoped 500 people would attend and 4,000 showed up to support the CAC. The net proceeds from this event was $52,000. We appreciate all participants of this first year event: Banana Docks catering, Boudreaux’s Cajun Grill, Callaghan’s Irish Social club, T.P. Crockmier’s, Hayley’s, LoDa Bier Garten, Lucky’s Irish Pub, Mediterranean Sandwich Shop, Moe’s Original Bar B Que, Noble South, O’Daly’s Irish Pub, Saucy Q Bar B Q, The Silver Horse Pub, The Blind Mule, The Brickyard, The Bull Cantina & Grill, The Garage, Veet’s Bar and Grill, Wintzell’s Oyster House.
